It is with great pleasure to inform about christening of MPCA ground at Sagar in the name of Shri. Chandu Sarwate, former Test cricketer from Madhya Pradesh and a gentleman who devoted his life for betterment of cricket through his contribution in multiple capacities.
Today - 22 July 2021 - is the 101st Birth Anniversary of Shri. Chandu Sarwate and this day was an opportune occasion to honour him by dedicating a ground in his name - at his birth place ( He was born at Sagar on 22 July 1920)
MPCA had the privilege of having the presence of Shri. Bhupendra Singh ji (Hon’ble Minister - Urban Development & Housing, MP Government) who unveiled the name-plaque and announced the new name of the ground, in presence of Mr. Abhilash Khandekar (President, MPCA), Mr. Pradeep Laria (President, Sagar Divisional Cricket Association), and the office bearers of MPCA and Sagar Division, family members of Shri Sarawte ji, and players from Sagar.
In view of the social restrictions, the event took place with limited guests at ground. The ceremony was streamlined live by MPCA.
Mr. Ramnik Saluja (Vice President, MPCA) delivered the welcome note while Ms. Siddhiyani Patni ((Hon. Joint Secretary) expressed vote of thanks on behalf of MPCA. The function was compered by Shri Pawan Jain (Hon. Treasurer, MPCA).
MPCA has continued its tradition of dedicating cricket infrastructure in the name of former Cricketers and such persons who contributed diligently for the growth and development of cricket in Madhya Pradesh.
With this event, MPCA announces the closure of ‘Chandu Sarwate Birth Centenary Celebrations’ which commenced on 22 July 2020.
