Sagar

Profile: Before India's independence, a greater part of Sagar was under control of the British, for whom it was the capital of Sagar and Nerbudda provincial territories. Strong presence of British force acted as catalyst for promoting cricket in this region. Just before independence, the first university in central India (region) was founded in 1946 at Sagar. This also helped in developing cricket as the university had a ground where game could be played. The District Cricket Association of Sagar was formed in 1953. In 1973, Sagar became revenue Division which led to formation of Sagar Division Cricket Association in same year.
