'C T Sarwate Award for Lifetime Achievement' : Mr. Subodh Saxena
A person not keen to enjoy any limelight, Mr. Subodh Saxena was most dependable cricketer of Madhya Pradesh side ever since he made his first-class debut in 1962 at the age of 18. he played 65 first-class matches for Madhya Pradesh and also led the side for 4 seasons before announcing retirement in the year 1982. His elegance on field motivated several aspiring cricketers to copy his style and excel. His passion for cricket is almost unmatched. He was the Chairman of the MP Ranji Tr. Selection Committee when the team reached the finals of the trophy. Even at the age of 76, he has the will to pad up and bat – which he does frequently and with same old technique and style. He has been a coach for several years and extended his wealth of wisdom to groom young talent. His love and affection for cricket and MPCA made him play the challenging role of Administrator of MPCA as its Vice President. A full of life persona, having lived a life full of cricket has been a fatherly figure of cricket and MPCA for a long period of close to six decades and truly deserves to be recognised for his immense contribution to the cricket of Madhya Pradesh....
'Madhavrao Scindia Award for Lifetime Achievement' : Mr. Farooq Khan
Madhya Pradesh cricket is blessed with patrons who have fervently contributed for promotion and development of this noble game. One such name is Mr. Farooq Khan coming from Sagar - a small town in Madhya Pradesh. While he played University and Divisional cricket for some years, an injury curtailed his on-field progress. He was soon entrusted with administrative and organising tasks of club cricket and then for the newly formed Sagar Division. Inspite of injury, he continued to play cricket for his Division. He sincerely got involved in tasks like umpiring, scoring, and even preparation of ground and pitches so as to facilitate smooth conduct of local cricket. He became the undisputed choice to act as the Joint Secretary of his Division. After gaining experience of handling administration of the Division for close to 8 years, he was promoted as the Secretary of Sagar Division in 1990's. Those were challenging days for cricket when funds were not in plenty. Many ardent volunteers of cricket contributed not only in terms of labour, time and energy, but also supported financially on many occasions. Farooq Khan was a similar unsung hero – to the extent that many a times he and his family cooked food for players from home owing to lack of funds for sourcing quality food from outside. His efforts and field work helped his Division host several BCCI matches with ease. A certified cricket coach having devoted many years to train aspiring players, he later on became the Selector for MPCA. His versatile contribution to cricket of Sagar Division and Madhya Pradesh over past 38 odd years is rare and truly invaluable...
