MPCA deeply regrets to inform about the sad demise of Capt. Manohar Sharma, former captain of MP Ranji Team, who left for heavenly abode on 30th March 2021. He was 80.

Capt. Manohar Sharma was skipper of MP Ranji side during the season 1973-74.

During his first-class career from 1959-60 to 1975-76, he played 66 first-class matches and 1 list-A match for Madhya Pradesh and Services and was recognised as a dependable middle-order batsman, scoring 3733 runs @ 37.7 with 9 centuries – 170 as his best innings. He also represented North Zone for the coveted Duleep Trophy.

He was actively involved in activities of MPCA till his last breath. He was a former Vice President of MPCA, along with heading the Cricket Development Committee for 6 years. Presently, he was a member of MPCA’s Scrutiny Committee. He had penned a book titled 'Humour in Cricket' and received accolades from past and present cricketers for this book.  

The Office Bearers, Members of the Managing Committee, all Life Members, Past & Present Cricketers, and associates of MPCA are severely pained by his demise and join me to express heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.
